Amp'd Mobile is a mobile phone service launched in the United States in late 2005. The company is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator and operates on the Verizon Wireless CDMA Evolution-Data Optimized|EV-DO network.
Its primary non-Venture Capital investors are MTV Networks and Universal Music Group. The service is targeted at 18-35 year olds, and is the first integrated mobile entertainment company for youth, young professionals and early adopters, and the only 3G carrier in the US specifically targeting that demographic. By leveraging the power of broadband wireless (EVDO), Amp'd Mobile offers traditional services such as voice and text within a completely fresh user interface designed specifically for the "mobile graduate" and third-generation (3G) technology.
Amp'd Mobile offers voice services as well as 3G data services such as wireless broadband based on Verizon Wireless's EV-DO network, text messaging|text and picture messaging, Push-to-Talk, and over-the-air downloadable applications and content (including Video on Demand) from its Amp'd Live service.
With a myriad of customizable options to meet each person's individual needs, as well as strategic alliances with top entertainment properties, such as MTVN and Universal Music Group, Amp'd Mobile brings a more relevant, personal experience to the wireless lifestyle with unique music, video, community, entertainment, sports and gaming offerings divided into various channels for quick and easy access.
Amp'd Live is similar in principal to VCast. Songs on Amp'd Live are usually $0.99, compared to $1.99 on VCast (if downloaded over-the-air; songs downloaded through VCast are also $0.99 if downloaded to a computer).
Amp'd Mobile is offered nationwide.

In this partnership, Amp'd will take care of marketing and content, while Telus will handle the billing, the customer care, and the retail aspects of the venture. Amp'd has subsequently announced that the handset selection will be different than that available in the US, and that it will include a Personal digital assistant|PDA. [2]
