Tutorial: Tethering-- How to use your Jet / Angel as a modem

The following How-to was posted in the Amp'd forum by Bulls729 on 8/1/2006. Edited for clarity

  1. Get drivers for your phone (link will be placed here soon), unpack and place the files in a folder on your computer's hard drive.
  2. Set phone into COM mode by clicking menu > settings > USB mode, then select COM mode
  3. Connect and install drivers. When you connect the phone to the computer you will be asked to install drivers, Browse to the folder where they are from Step 1.
  4. (Windows Users, Sorry Mac) Go to Control Panel, click on something like network places > view network connections > create new connection.
  5. Click next, select "Connect to Internet", then select "Set-up Manually".
  6. Then choose "Connect Using Dial-Up Modem", and select your CDMA device.
  7. Type what you want for ISP Name (e.g. "Amp'd Jet") and click next.
  8. For phone number field enter #777, and for user name use "your10digitnumber@vzw3g.com". The password is vzw. Confirm password, and click next.

That's it! You can now connect to the internet! The phone will say HIGH SPEED DATA ACCESS.
