Talk:Samsung

I've beeb following the thread about hacking the Samsung SCH-A950 (in fact, I read every post from beginnning to end). I'm aware that someone was waiting for a different cable than the so-called PictBridge cable that comes with the phone. I'm also aware that the Verizon guys seem to have more luck accessing the file system than the Canadian Telus contingent.... well, I've DONE IT!

Today, for the first time I read the entire file system of my SCH-A950 and YES, I'm on Telus with the NEWEST firmware and YES, I used the so-called PictBridge cable Part# PCB113VBE but none of it was possible using BITPIM 9.06... that program just doesn't have what it takes to access the SCH-A950.

I used Qualcomm's QPST 2.7 build 91. I also found out that it ISN'T necessary to cycle the power of the phone to gain access but it IS necessary to install the standard MCCI 4.24 driver and I also found out the hard way that having multiple instances of QPST running (accidentally) will make the phone inaccessible.

So far I haven't sync'd my phonebook or backed anything up but I have rummaged around the file system noting where things were.

It's obvious there's a way in and I'm sure from here it should be a snap to mess with ringtones and such.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction - I wouldn't have gotten here without the guys on this forum.
