Bluetooth Headset stopped working
Before flashing with the Alltel firmware, I had no problem pairing my Motorola HS820 bluetooth headset with my phone. Now the phone does not see it at all. Is there a fix for this?
System Software
This is just a shot in the dark, but it appears Verizon has locked out USB computer connections in new phones (post September 06). I'm using NEWC_01.05.0A software on my V3c and no matter what I try I can't get to the phone on any of my P2K programs. I've tried moto4lin and p2kcommander - both unsuccessfully. Anyone have any ideas? It seems as though the only way to flash a new phone like mine would be to downgrade the firmware so it would allow the USB before putting on the Alltel UI. No clue though. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Comments for Improvement to the Flash Instructions
I just went though flashing the Verizon V3c firmware for the first time, and I thought I would pass onto the group some comments, that if you agree, can be used to update the instructions.
First, I found that if you need to do a Key patch for PST (ie run PST_uni_patch.exe), you need to do this BEFORE starting PST for the first time. I didn't do this, and found I got some errors trying to patch it afterward. I had to uninstall PST, reinstall it, and then the Key patch worked just fine.
Second, the instructions are unclear if you need to finally exit PST, after successfully installing all the new hardware drivers, BEFORE starting MultiFlashFlex.exe. I mean, exit PST before moving on, successfully, to the "Flash the Verizon V3c ..." step.
Third, MultiFlashFlex has some check box options to top right of its window, such as "Perform a Master Clear" and "Perform a Master Reset". Should these be checked, and therefore, eliminate the need to do these things manually after a success flash?
That's for Flexing only

VZW.ZIP
The VZW.ZIP link that's posted is no good anymore. Does anybody have the file? It's working for me, are you still having troubles with it?
IT'S NOT WORKING!
can I use a different service provider
Two questions. 1) Will this work if the wireless service has been turned off? 2) Will I be able to take this phone to alltel for service when i'm done? I have a razr that my girlfriend had for a while. I would love to use it to replace my crappy alltel phone. I just can't find anyone to tell me what I need to do to make it work.
Charging from Macs
I notice that one of the pros listed for the flash is that the phone will now charge from Macs, implying that an unmodified V3c won't charge from a Mac. But that isn't the case. I charge my unmodified VZ V3c from my Mac all the time, using a PSP data cable. Is there something else that's being referred to here? --Marnen 03:57, 21 February 2007 (EST)
Backlight Color Seemedit
Does that actually do something? I did it, tried all three settings and my phone looks the same....
Yeah, Mine looks the same too. I don't see what it does. Atheros 12:50, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
Thoughts
The benefit list may need some touching up. While you can't view thumbnails in the wallpaper settings you can set the wallpaper while browsing the thumbnailed view in the picture gallery. And the phone should charge of the usb cable's +5v. In theory it's possible that a mac could detect some difference in the phone and decide to cut power but it's more likely the result of some power management state.
I also found Mark_Venture's flashing tutorial to be more useful for the flashing itself. Might be a good idea to add a links section somewhere; the more information people have to go by the better.
PRL?
Shouldn't the fact that you need to know someone with a untouched verizon phone and need to often get files from them be at the absolute TOP of this process rather than be buried in the bottom?
