Setup Google POP on PPC

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL: pop.gmail.com:995 Use SSL: Yes Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com:465 or smtp.gmail.com:587 Use Authentication: Yes Use SSL: Yes Account Name: your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') Email Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com) Password: your Gmail password



While the above general setup information could work on different devices, Windows Mobile 5 must be configured for Gmail POP as follows:

1 - start the Messaging program. This will be found using the 'start menu' and going to 'messaging'

2 - While in the messaging program, select menu>tools>new account

3 - Enter the e-mail address of the new account

4 - When presented with the auto configuration screen select next

5 - On the e-mail setup screen enter your name (Jane Smith), user name (user@gmail.com) and password. Click next.

6 - On the next e-mail setup page select the account type (POP) and enter the name you would like to use to identify this POP account. DO NOT specify any port settings. Click next.

7 - On the next page enter the server information. For incoming mail enter pop.gmail.com and for outgoing mail enter smtp.gmail.com. Do not specify a domain. Next, click the 'options' button.

8 - On the options section specify if you would like mail checked on a specific schedule. Click next.

9 - On the next option page select 'outgoing mail requires authentication' and 'use separate settings'. After you have done this, select 'outgoing settings'

10 - On the outgoing server settings section, enter your user name, password and select 'require SSL for outgoing mail. Do not select domain. Select 'ok'. You will be brought back to the email configuration options page. Select next.

11 - On the next page chose your message options for download. Select finish. Do not say yes to download mail now.

- Make sure your gmail account is conigured to allow POP - Make sure active sync is not running as a process - Make sure you pocket pc is not connected or docked to a computer - Reboot your PPC

You should now be able to download mail for this account.
