Accessing MP3 File Playback

Once Verizon loads its software on the Samsung SCH-A930, playback of mp3 files is disabled/hidden. There is at least one method for playing MP3 audio files from a memory card.

  1. Access debug mode
  2. At this Menu, Press 0 again
  3. At this User Lock screen, enter the following passcode: 8886573982
  4. Scroll down and select option 4, MP3

  • The phone will now look for mp3 files on your memory card.
  • If you have not done this before, the program will put a new directory on the card, MY_MP3S. You can now put mp3 files on the memory card in this directory, and play them by accessing this hidden menu.

Sending Ringtones by E-mailing Your Phone

  1. fix up ur ringtone the way u want it (less than 300kb)
  2. convert to .wav (i have a xilisoft program)
  3. open the .wav in the windows sound recorder
  4. go to file > properties > convert now
    1. PCM
    2. 22.050 kHz, 16 bit, Mono - 43 kb/sec
    3. hit ok, ok again and file > save
  5. convert the .wav back to .mp3 (same prog)
  6. rename filename.mp3 to filename.mid.mp3 (if u dont have it set so u can see the extensions, then rename it to filename.mid)
  7. open up the file in winamp
  8. right click on it and go to "View File Info"
  9. check ID3v2 tag and fill in some info (title, artist, album, year and genre should do) and hit update
  10. open up ur email client (i use gmail, works nicely)
  11. email the filename.mid.mp3 to ur phone (phonenumber@vzwpix.com)
  12. when ur phone receives it (wait time may vary) go to options > save sound
  13. delete the .mid and hit OK and it should save fine
