Accessing MP3 File Playback
Once Verizon loads its software on the Samsung SCH-A930, playback of mp3 files is disabled/hidden. There is at least one method for playing MP3 audio files from a memory card.
- Access debug mode
- At this Menu, Press 0 again
- At this User Lock screen, enter the following passcode: 8886573982
- Scroll down and select option 4, MP3
- The phone will now look for mp3 files on your memory card.
- If you have not done this before, the program will put a new directory on the card, MY_MP3S. You can now put mp3 files on the memory card in this directory, and play them by accessing this hidden menu.
Sending Ringtones by E-mailing Your Phone
- fix up ur ringtone the way u want it (less than 300kb)
- convert to .wav (i have a xilisoft program)
- open the .wav in the windows sound recorder
- go to file > properties > convert now
- PCM
- 22.050 kHz, 16 bit, Mono - 43 kb/sec
- hit ok, ok again and file > save
- convert the .wav back to .mp3 (same prog)
- rename filename.mp3 to filename.mid.mp3 (if u dont have it set so u can see the extensions, then rename it to filename.mid)
- open up the file in winamp
- right click on it and go to "View File Info"
- check ID3v2 tag and fill in some info (title, artist, album, year and genre should do) and hit update
- open up ur email client (i use gmail, works nicely)
- email the filename.mid.mp3 to ur phone (phonenumber@vzwpix.com)
- when ur phone receives it (wait time may vary) go to options > save sound
- delete the .mid and hit OK and it should save fine
If this doesn't work, visit http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=929944&page=1 and look for the tutorial posted by Andioge.
