Recommended backup procedures

Having a current backup can be a Godsend, especially if you are on the road or away from home, and Murphy's Law pays you a visit. Nowadays with applications such as Sprite Backup, keeping a current backup is very easy. Many Pocket PCs include high quality backup applications builtin.
Here is a backup procedure I have found very effective, and has saved me more than once.
When I get a new Pocket PC I tend to try out a lot of new software on it to see what suits that particular device. Doing so means I uninstall quite a few applications, and most leave unwanted clutter behind. Once I have used the device for a few days and have decide what applications I want on it, I do a hard reset to clear all the clutter. I then reinstall the apps I have decided on, and do the necessary tweaks so I have it the way I want it. At this point I do a backup to a storage card. I then save it as my failsafe backup. I setup my backup software to do a scheduled backup each morning so that I have a current backup. If I ever run into a problem where I need to do a restore and my current backup is infected in some way that just reapplies the problem I can then go to my failsafe backup, which has all my core applications and settings on it, saving me from having to start all over from scratch.
