Motorola V3m Tutorial: Flashing to VIVO firmware
From HowardForums Wiki
VIVO is a cellular service provider in South America and Brazil that was kind enough to leak their firmware. V3m users can follow the directions on the Alltel tutorial but use VIVO's firmware instead. Here are the differences:

Benefits
Differences between VIVO's firmware and Alltel's:
Pros
- Drastically better music player
- Supports tags
- Supports folders of music (Alltel moves them all to one big folder)
- Much better interface
- The outside buttons work when the phone is closed, letting you pause, skip forward, and change the volume
- Alltel's crappy player is still included and is called Tones in case you want it.
Cons
- Military time is used (Can be fixed with a seem edit)
- Date format is in Day/Month/Year (Can be fixed with a seem edit)
- Some users report that their Bluebooth headset connects and disconnects a lot.
Equal
- The user interface is the same except that many of the options are in different places. For example the Personalize menu, which is under Settings with Alltel, is called My Vivo with VIVO and has its own button in the main menu though all the options therein are the same.
Items needed
Flashing
Flashing, seem edits, and the fixing of data services can be done by following the directions on the Alltel tutorial.
Extra Cleanup
Since this firmware is for people in South America and Brazil, the first thing you will notice is the foreign language. Here is how to change it:
Menu > box on the lower right > Gears > Config. Inicial > Idioma > English
Change Language used for iTap (text messaging): Right arrow > New Message > New Message SMS > Options > Entry Setup > Change one or both to English.
Under Connections, there are three options, unlike just two with Alltel. They are Bluetooth Link, Incoming Call, and USB Settings. Under USB Settings, USB Drive is selected by default so that when connected to Windows, the V3m is found as a Storage Device. With the right drivers, it might be assigned a driver letter (but nothing happens by default). You may change this to Modem/COM so that Motorola USB Modem shows up in the Device Manager per the Alltel directions.
Fix the date. menu->Settings->initial setup->date and time. Turn autoupdate off. Change the format from the 2 new menu items. Turn autoupdate on. The changes stay.
Edit seem 2742 offset 18 check bit 5 to re-enable Web Sessions in the hidden menu.
