Information: Most of the phones at Metro PCS are CDMA (Code division multiple access)phones and what that mean? There is no sim card for this phone. You can't just take the sim card out and put it into a new phone. A metro phone will not work with other phone carriers, but Metro PCS now offers a service for flashing a vast selection of CDMA handsets. While it is not really flashing, but uploading a PRL file. Metro flash does not program internet or MMS however. This in turn lets any one with Verizon, Sprint, or any CDMA carrier handset get service for as little as $35 including the first month and activation.

You must buy your phone for full price, or bring a CDMA handset but they will not program internet and MMS. Although craigslist if full of ads from people who can give a Metro flashed phone internet and MMS. How ever Metro only supports 1x and not EVDO, EDGE, or 3G. There are people on howardforums.com that say that EVDO has limited coverage and of course Metro is working on rolling out a 3G network upgrade.

Since Metro PCS is prepay you will have to pay for everything you want for your phone. Metro has credit you buy before you can purchade ringtones or roaming (Metro, Connect).

Limited coverage area. This phone works in some limited city's and areas so check it out and really know that it will work for your use. Metro PCS now offers pre pay roaming so that your phone will work every where including Mexico.
