The Claro brand was introduced to the Dominican Republic in January 31, 2007, after the acquisition of Verizon Dominicana by América Móvil (NYSE: AMX) on April 3, 2006. Since August 7, 2007 Claro has 3G UMTS/HSDPA service in the 850 MHz band. http://www.claro.com/do
